Bathroom design

Bathroom Shower

Bathroom construct is the first area of your bathroom reparation you need to get right. Just replacing the existing bathroom with the same construct may not be enough. The key to great bathroom construct is to construct it with the population that are going to use it in mind. Any way be sure that your bathroom construct also has a normal use factor as well. For example: If you were designing a bathroom for families you could still construct the bathroom with easy access to the shower and bath. This would ensure that the construct would also work for population with wee mobility. This means if you determine to sell your home or if you are renovating for profit your construct has a wider store appeal. Great bathroom construct also uses the space well, taking into account the light or window space, size of fittings, and drainage options. Draw out a plan to scale and right down the sizes of your room. Mark the existing drainage points and then and water inlet points. Write down a wish list of the bathroom fittings to need and want with their sizes. Now marry the two together and see what fits. Note: Most bathroom drainage and water inlet points can be moved but this does come at extra cost.

Bathroom remodel

If you have decided to do the work yourself or part of the work it is time to hire a skip bin and pull out the old bathroom. If your home was made pre 1980 you may have fibro bathroom wall linings with asbestos in it and great care will need to be taken. You will need some full body disposable overalls, eye protection, and capability dust mask. Check with your local building authority or council with regard to the regulation on bathroom asbestos wall lining removal.

Remove all things except the plumbing. If you keep the bathroom plumbing in place you will not have to turn the water off for the whole house. Also you will need to jack hammer the floor tiles up and the sand and cement bed that they are laid on.

Bathroom reparation and construction

Bathrooms must be building properly from the ground up to ensure that the terminated job is precise and true. This also ensures the construct and look of the bathroom will have a great finish

The Bathroom reparation Process

Install water and drainage pipe and electrical wires. Install wall lining and ceiling and then setup the bath hob and bath. Waterproof the floor and shower and bath recess. Correct the fall of the floor with sand and cement ready for tiling. Lay floor and wall tiles and then grout. Install new bathroom vanity, fittings, and taps - setup new electrical. Paint ceiling and final clean.Step one - Plumbing and electrical

At this point all new plumbing is installed for clean hot and cold water and drainage. Faithful concentration needs to be taken when positioning the new plumbing so that the plumbing fittings are precise when the tiling is finished. For example: To centre a fitting in a shower recess you must take into consideration the thickness of the wall board, tile glue and tile so the fitting will be centred after the tiles are in place. The same applies to installing drainage pipes for a toilet; the wall lining and tile thickness must be taken into account so the pipe is in the precise position when the toilet is installed after tiling. Also rough in the any new electrical wires without connecting them to the mains power.

Step two - setup wall and ceiling linings

Install your 6mm wall lining being Faithful to nail the fibro board every 150mm without nailing into the new pipes and electrical wires. The best way is to quantum and mark the pipe and wire layout onto your new wall board with a pencil as you go. Screw up (or nail) the ceiling lining, plasterboard is the most common. Any way if you are laying your tiles from floor to ceiling do not setup the cornice as this is best done after tiling. If you are not tiling to the ceiling go ahead and setup the cornice after the wallboard and ceiling lining have been installed. Also if your bath is not freestanding you can now make up the frame and setup the bath. Ensure the bath is installed correctly allowing for the thickness of the tiles and glue.Be sure to check all linings and pipes before you continue with your bathroom renovation.

Step three - Waterproof your bathroom

The shower recess will need to be waterproofed 100mm above the shower rose outlet. Also the bath should be waterproofed 100mm above the lip of the bath right nearby and to the floor. At the doorway setup a 25 x 25mm aluminum angle glued into place with capability silicone and waterproof into the lip. Your whole bathroom should now the tanked, so the all water will only go down a drain. Bathroom waterproofing tip: waterproofing is an easy job but capability and accuracy is most important.

Step four - Lay in the cement screed for the floor.

Before the floor tiles can laid the floor must be plane and fairly flat with a wee fall to the drainage outlet. To do this you must use sand and cement mix and it is best to add a waterproofing agent into this as well. With a level, set the floor level at the doorway. Use the top aluminum angle as the terminated floor level and quantum down the thickness of the tile plus 10mm for the glue. Mark right nearby the bathroom with a level and then screed in your sand and cement mix with a 1 to 3 degree fall to the top of the drain outlet. Take your time and get it right with the terminated level as plane as possible. When the sand cement mix has set but is not dry (you can walk on it but you it is still a bit soft) rub it over with a house brick. This will remove all the small highs and lows and check with a level as you go. Let the bathroom floor fully dry and then you should have a great outside to tile onto. Tip: the more work you put into the floor screed the easier your tiling will be.

Step five: Tile floor and walls

Lay your tiles on the floor first and then grout. Then lay your wall tiles development sure that they are level as you lay. Once the bathroom tiles have been cut and laid, grout all your tiles and then buff the tiles clean.

A Raf file can be anyone that can hold 3 files or folders. Raf stands for read, act, and file. Your nightstand should be clear except for reading glasses (if you need them), a book or magazine (just one, not a pile), alarm clock and maybe some tissues. Start by clearing the room of all excess stuff, only put back those items that promote peace and rest. Donate or store extra items elsewhere.

14.) Remember the one in one out rule.

Once you have your house down to where it looks and feels good for every new item that you derive you will need to donate, sell or give away one item. One for one, it's the only way to verbalize the balance that you have achieved.

Three Tips for Shower Grout mend

Three Tips for Shower Grout mend

When your once-dazzling shower is beginning to look downright depressing and the clean, sharp lines that once framed attractive tiling are beginning to look dingy and worn it is time for grout repair. If things are bad, the grout may be cracking and falling out from between the tiles. Obviously, it is time for shower grout repair. Although the job is manageable for novice do-it-yourselfers, there are a few things you can do to make the task easier and safer. This report will examine three great tips for shower grout repair.

Keep an Eye on the Clock

Bathroom Shower

Shower grout repair isn't a task that homeowners can expect to perfect quickly. The actual work may or may not take a great deal of time depending upon your exact circumstances and needs, but the farranging process requires patience.

Shower grout repair is a ninety-six hour project. So, before you decree to tackle the job, make sure you have some other plan for showering for a few days! On the first day, you do the work. After you for real re-grout and caulk the areas in need of repair, you will need to allot two days for the grout to cure. Then, you will need to apply a sealant and wait an additional one full day before you can use the shower again.

Resist the urge to rush. If you don't allow the grout to cure or the sealant to set, the moisture produced when the shower is used can undo all of your hard work and you'll be back at the home improvement store in report time. Don't tempt fate by bathing, either. The curing grout or sealant probably won't furnish great aromatherapy, and unintended splashing or steam from your bath can be just as damaging as any shower. The humidity you'd create could destroy your shower grout repair work.

Don't Forget the Tub Floor

No matter how truthful you are, the shower grout repair process will yield some messiness. Place tape over your drain hole or plug it using some other means before beginning your work. This will help keep debris from finding its way into the drain. Then, cover the floor of the tub or shower with a canvass cloth, blanket or old sheet. You don't want to accidentally allow grout to cure on the shower floor, nor do you want any other accidents or damage to occur.

Even after taking those precautions, you might end up with grout sealant on the shower floor. This key ingredient of shower grout repair can be quite slick, so be truthful when attractive about in the tub. If you find some sealant on the floor, clean it up as swiftly as possible using nothing more than soapy water. Harsher cleansers are unnecessary and may damage the end of your tub.

Protect Yourself

It is leading to safe your tub when performing shower grout repair, but protecting yourself is critical. You will be dealing with an assortment of tools and appliances. You will be handling some suited chemicals. As such, you must be careful.

Make sure your bathroom is ventilated adequately in case the grout or sealants you are using create any unattractive odors or fumes. You should wear eye safety at all times, especially when chipping away at dried grout. You should also achieve all work while wearing heavy-duty rubber gloves in order to safe your skin and hands from cuts and chemicals. Shower grout repair isn't dangerous, but there is no presuppose to create unnecessary risks when you can avoid them easily.

Shower grout repair is a great way to revitalize your tired shower. It can bring a new look to an old shower while protecting walls from water damage. By following recommendations like these, you can get the job done effectively and safely.

En-Suite Bathroom Designs and Bathroom Decorating Ideas

En-Suite Bathroom Designs and Bathroom Decorating Ideas

En Suite Bathroom institute Ideas

Just as there is a trend towards connecting the kitchen with living/dining areas for group reasons, so it is with the bedroom and bathroom designs. As families become more and more fragmented because of expanding time spent away from home pursuing work, study and pastime commitments, time de facto spent in the home has become a high-priced commodity and the desire for the business of family members strong. The en-suite bathroom in modern tunes is a necessity rather than a luxury. Not only does it allow for bathroom functions to be carried out in privacy, but provides a more companionable ambiance if you wish.

Bathroom Shower

If you are considering forming an en-suite bathroom where none has previously existed, you might think of cutting into the bedroom space if the conversion of an adjacent room is not feasible. If you pick to corollary this route, take care not to compromise both rooms by spoiling the architecture of the bedroom and providing too small a space adequately to accommodate all the bathroom equipment you need. If space is very limited, building in a whole wall of cupboard units within the bedroom, one to house a basin and Wc, someone else for a shower and possibly a further one for hanging clothes may prove the most aesthetically pleasing configuration.

Bathroom Decorating Ideas For The En-Suite

Because the en-suite bathroom is likely to be for the sole use of the occupant(s) of the adjacent bedroom, it can be tailored to their needs without notice for others. The adult en-suite bathroom can be styled without regard to the assaults a family bathroom is likely to undergo.

Wallpaper might be determined and the bedroom floor covering continued into the bathroom (with mats to protect potentially wet areas). Pictures might be hung and more items of furniture incorporated. Drapes colse to the bath might also be considered. If this is your approach, ensure that there is adequate ventilation (to the exterior where practical) to prevent condensation. Internal bathrooms (without a window) are required to be vented and this is often operated automatically with the light switch.

En Suite Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

If the bathroom and bedroom are to work successfully together, their schemes need to relate, while at the same time maintaining their own personel character. An effective way of achieving this is by reversing the bedroom scheme in the bathroom - that is, taking the bedroom accent color and using this as the main color for the bathroom, and adopting the main bedroom color as an accent color in the bathroom.

As more and more husbands and wives now both work, bathroom 'collisions' become increasingly likely. To prevent these it is a good idea, where space and allocation permit, for facilities to be doubled up. A duplicate sink arrangement, a bath and a shower and two Wcs will all help to make preparations for the day or for sleep a speedier and more convenient process.

For the greatest in luxury, the inclusion of a dressing room in your suite, if at all possible, will not only free cupboard space in the bedroom but will also allow for one partner to dress without waking the other.

When planning a kitchen we are accustomed to mental in terms of fitted furniture, so why not in the bathroom which also has to house unsightly equipment and cumbersome plumbing? A framed and paneled bath with drapes, a basin enclosed in a vanity unit, and built-in shelves colse to a hot water tank or to fill an awkward recess all help to ease storehouse problems and give the bathroom a more streamlined profile.

A bathroom designs idea -- can I precisely found my own bathroom? Why not! Today, the bathroom is much more than just a room for grooming and a place to read. Bathrooms can be a good place for home practice equipment and a good music law or Tv, for example. What best way to unwind from the day than a soothing shower or warm soak in the tub with candles and relaxing music. So start a notebook. When you get a bathroom designs idea, write it down. Soon you'll have defined the bathroom that's just right for you.

Design my own bathroom? You bet you can! When designing your own bathroom, some of the questions you should ask (and answer) include:

Bathroom Shower

1. How big will the bathroom be? Bathroom sizes include:

o master bathroom or luxury bathroom - includes toilet, bidet, two sinks, isolate tub and shower, whirpool or spa and possibly more, depending on your budget. Some master bathrooms are large sufficient to have practice equipment, and they are subdivided into smaller compartments for privacy depending on what is needed.
o Full bathroom - includes toilet, sink, and blend tub/shower plumbed along one wall. Typical dimensions are 5x7 or 5x8 feet.
o Half bathroom - includes sink and toilet only. It can be located on the main floor of your home to sell out the morning rush, and the house doesn't have to go upstairs to use the toilet. coarse dimensions are between 3x6 and 4x5 feet, about the size of a smaller closet.
o Small bathroom - includes projection shower stall, toilet and sink and typical dimensions are 6x6 feet.
o Childrens bathroom - can be a three-quarter bathroom or full bathroom depending on the size of your home and how many children you have. Children's bathrooms should have fullness of storage and cubbies that are safe and colorful. If any kids will use the same bathroom, a wall or half wall between the toilet and the rest of the bathroom may be a good idea.
o Guest bathroom - can be a three-quarter bathroom or a full bathroom.

2. Are you planning to have favorable storage in the bathroom? A found my own bathroom person will all the time include bathroom storage. You can find a blend sink/vanity for extra storage. Use the wall space wisely with shelves or cabinets over the commode or roughly in any place in the bathroom. consider using projection shelves, and hang towel bars above one another. Add a rehabilitation cabinet with mirror to your bathroom to store grooming supplies, rehabilitation or toiletries. Traditionally, the rehabilitation cabinet was all the time located above the vanity or sink, but nowadays you can place it elsewhere in the bathroom. Add a shower caddy to your projection shower for extra storage.

3. Do you have sufficient lighting planned for your bathroom? Natural light is an leading element in bathrooms. A window, a wall or roof skylight will bring in natural light, a view or a dramatic skyscape. Having a skylight that opens is great because moisture build-up is reduced. artificial lighting is also vital and often overlooked in a bathroom. Lighting should be used to brighten and define the space since both can affect your mood and how you feel inside your home.

Ventilating fans are sized by the whole of cubic feet of air they move each dinky (cfm). A found my own bathroom person will have a good ventilation law that can move the air from the bathroom to the outdoors about eight times per hour or once every 7 or 8 minutes. Top Ten Things to Do in Spring

Top Ten Things to Do in Spring

It must be serendipity that I am in currently in the janitorial industry and that I enjoy cleaning. I use my skills as a sales and marketing director to sell my ritual of welcoming spring.

While some habitancy enjoy lounging, daydreaming or reading when the days are still cool but sunny I enjoy tying up loose ends and starting with a "clean" slate. So what if others do not share my enthusiastic spring dance in honor of mother-nature! Why do they insist on their own dance and will not applaud my magnificent performance? Here are my favorite things to do in spring:

Shower Caddy

1. Spring clean & de-clutter home & office:

Make a caddy of your basic tools. I use multi-purpose cleaner, microfiber cloths, lamb's wool prolongation duster, furniture polish, disinfectant spray, trash bag and a laundry basket to put items I am removing from the room. If your ceilings are high you may need a small step ladder. I also have a broom to get behind furniture I can't move and for carpet edges and corners. A vacuum with attachments is also very handy. Place your tool outside the entrance of the room you are cleaning. Give each room a thorough, top to lowest cleaning. This is the excellent time to launder the curtains and bedding. If you are up to the challenge you can also flip furniture cushions, mattresses and rearrange the furniture. The best arrival I have found is to start each room at the entrance door and circle the room. Start your high dusting, touching all surfaces on the walls such as picture frames, shelves, etc. If the curtains are not going to be taken down, remove the dust on the tops & fabric folds. Cobwebs can get anywhere, including the flat walls. Get under and behind the furniture with the duster and/or broom. Dust inside the window frame. Wash the windows. Use a microfiber with just a mist of all-purpose cleaner and dust the surfaces you can reach. The last thing I do is use my disinfectant spray and vacuum.

2. Get rid of clothes not worn:

I bring storehouse packaging or boxes and kitchen trash bags and a black marker. First go straight through the shelved clothing, second the clothes that are hanging and third clothes that are in drawers. Make a pile on the floor of clothes that should be place in the garbage. Box up the seasonal things you are going to keep. Things you are giving away put into the trash bags. Use the mark and put your name and season of clothes on the boxes. Label the bags with the person's name you are giving them to, yard sale or Goodwill. Store away the seasonal boxed clothes, put the give-away clothes in your stable or auto so you will not forget to take them away.

3. Clean yard, porches & garage:

All of these are good for family team work, but this one especially is. The stable needs and occasional de-clutter and cleaning. You will need a broom, plentifulness of boxes or plastic containers, a black mark and maybe some white mailing labels to write on. If you have a large major accident in there you may want to copy the show "Clean Sweep" and get out three tarps on the drive or yard. Tarp whole one is for things to keep, tarp whole two is for giving away or yard sale, tarp three is trash. When you have all things out that you can, you may now dust, sweep and/or pressure wash. Design tools by their use and season. Keep the yard tools together, orchad tools and the basic mend tools together, etc. The sports tool and toys are also organized and the off season sports tool and toys should be boxed and put up. Tarp whole one "things to keep" will be boxed up and labeled and neatly put back into the garage. Tarp whole two "things to give away or yard sale" should be boxed, bagged or price tagged for yard sale. Label the give-away or yard sale items and neatly put back into the garage. Tarp whole three "trash" items need to be bagged if they can fit into garbage receptacle or hauled to the dump if necessary. Now the stable is neat and clean!

4. Thoroughly information autos:

Have a contest with man if you are detailing two autos! Guard yourself from the sun. Tools needed are a vacuum with attachments, trash bag, towels, paper towels, 2 microfiber cloths and a large terry cloth, two old large beach towels, a long handled car wash broom if you have one, and a stiff brush for the wheels & tires and pail & sponge. I also fix a small caddy with window cleaner, Mr. Clean, some Q-Tips, Armor-all, Febreze, car wash, wax with an applicator or soft cloth and tire "black" spray. Start on the inside and fill up your trash bag with any garbage in the auto. Look under seats and in the cracks of the seats. Pick up items that will hurt your vacuum. Take out all the carpets and lay them down to vacuum. Then fill a pail with about a gallon of water and an ounce of Mr. Clean. Use this water first to scrub the seats with a very damp cloth, it may remove some stains and it smells good. Then wash the dash, wheel, seat dividers and inside the doors. Constantly clean your cloth in the bucket. Dip Q-tips in the water and use to get the dash cracks, corners and areas the cloth couldn't get into. Spray Armor-All on a microfiber cloth and wipe down the dash and hard plane surfaces made from similar material to shine up and make like new. When terminated put that cloth away from the others so you will not use it again. Time for the inside windows! I use a window cleaner and paper towels to wash all the inside windows, then I go back over them with a microfiber cloth and it assuredly polishes good. The last thing I do is vacuum the carpet. Be sure to adjust the seats forward and backward to get all areas. Last I give the fabric and carpet a spray of Febreze, carefully avoiding my windows. Vacuum the carpets that you took out. If you want to Design the trunk and vacuum, this is a good time. Now get the windows up and shut the doors. Empty your pail and refill with plentifulness of water and a puny carwash. Hose down the entire auto and wash by sections. Immediately rinse off each section as you go colse to the auto. When you think you are done walk colse to the auto for any touch-ups. Now use your stiff brush and scrub the wheels and tires a few times, then rinse. Hose off the carpets you removed and let air dry. Use a beach towel to dry off all areas of the auto. After drying and no water spots it is time to wax. My favorite auto wax is the new spray on wipe off type, but if you are using the paste wax it is done the same way. Put wax on a section at a time, and then remove it with the second beach towel. Let the paste wax dry before buffing off. Again check all colse to the auto for any areas that need touched up. After waxing I wash the windows with paper towels and then polish with the microfiber cloth. Your wheels and tires should be dry by now so you can spray your "black" spray on them. Now that is a sparkling beauty!

5. Get planting beds & flower packaging ready:

You can start seedlings indoors or wait for the nursery centers to stock your favorite plants. Guard yourself from the sun. Tools you may want for the large planting beds are a tiller (if large area) rake, shovel, orchad claw, landscape fabric or plastic, gloves, trash bag potting soil (my favorite is Miracle Grow with the water keeping material). First pull all weeds and place in trash bag. Rake the outside of leaves, old mulch and debris, put in trash bag or compost bin. Use shovel or orchad claw to turn the soil (till if large area) and mix in your potting soil. After the area is complete, cover with the landscape fabric or plastic. When you are ready to plant, cut holes in the landscape fabric or plastic and place plant where you want. To finalize your flower gardens, cover the fabric or plastic with mulch or rocks. For the flower containers, if they have previously been used they must be washed and let air dry. When the weather is warm adequate you can plant. Place some large stones or broken porcelain pieces in the lowest for drainage. Fill pots ¾ of the way full. Resolve where to place your plants and surround them with potting soil and firmly press down. Give a good drink of water. Check on weekly to remove dead material and water if needed.

6. Start seedlings indoors:

Pick a few seeds you want to start, veggies, herbs, flowers (Burpee is my favorite brand). You can use a sun lamp, although I never have. Just don't start too early or they will grow too large before you can transplant. The easiest way is to get the jiffy pots ready for water and seeds. You can also use a rectangle receptacle like a cake pan and fill with potting soil and sprinkle on the seeds and water. Pour off excess water. Save your seed envelopes to mark your plants or you won't remember what you are growing and where. When the weather is warm adequate and all chances of freezing are over they can be transplanted either in a prepared bed or container.

7. Write down new things to do in the summer and fall:

I like to write down things I haven't done in a while, new things or things to do with particular friends and family; go to museum with mother; watch movie with Linda. Learn how to rollerblade, take a painting class, run a marathon, go boating and so forth. I have things to do indoors for rain and outdoors for sunshine. Keep your list next to your calendar and when you want something to do check one off. Make arrangements a week or so ahead so you will have a full communal calendar.

8. Begin a customized fitness plan:

First agenda a check up with your family physician and make sure you are okay to become more active. Define what you want to achieve and a date to achieve this by. If you have more than one goal, do this for every goal. Example: I want to lose 30 pounds by August. Next step is to plan out how you will achieve this. Example: I will clean out my kitchen and replace with salutary low calorie foods. I will walk one mile every day. I will lift weights thirty minutes every other day and so on. Keep obvious affirmations and motivational post-its on your bathroom mirror and refrigerator.

9. Get a new hair cut, hair style or color:

Be browsing the magazine for cuts and color you like to get an idea or two. Visit your favorite hair salon or one that a friend refers. Ask the stylist to propose a cut and or color for your complexion, lifestyle and budget. Ask questions about maintenance before you decide. Your cut must be quick and easy to vocalize if you lifestyle is very busy. If you are young you can assuredly go more dramatic and bold. If you are more mature or have a work you may want to stick with some first-rate styles and color, but distinct than you regularly get. This is a great ego boost and when you are obvious and happy, it will rub off on everybody colse to you.

10. Take a long walk, hike or bike ride in a scenic area:

This is a great family outing, or couples and friends outing. Bring your dog if you can. If you have a favorite park or recreation area, plan a day and a picnic for this event. This could ba a great way to scout out a camping area. Take the basics, sandwiches, fruit and water. Dress for the occasion and don't forget sun protection. Bring a rain jacket or wind breaker in case the weather suddenly changes. Let man know where you are going and bring a cell phone. Bring a Frisbee or football to mix things up. Just enjoy the time to spend with good firm and appreciate the gorgeous earth.

With a "clean" slate completed there is still ample time to soak up all the crisp air and sunshine. I feel I have terminated something great and it makes me feel terrifying about the next great season!

How to Remodel A Small Bathroom

How to Remodel A Small Bathroom

Not all bathrooms can be lavish spaces with whirlpool tubs and two cut off vanities. For some bathrooms, space is at a selected and knocking out walls is not an option, but remodeling must be done. Small bathroom remodeling presents its own complications, but with the right information, a small bathroom-remodeling task can shine.

Before starting your small bathroom remodeling, produce a floor plan that maximizes the room's useable space. Don't be afraid to produce up by incorporating free-floating cabinets. Use mirrors to stretch a small bathroom's space, and keep the color task simple. Keep a small bathroom bright, fresh, and inviting with coordinated colors and accessories.

Shower Wall

Pare down the scale in your bathroom. Big items take up more space in the bathroom and look bulky. Angle sinks are straightforward and small. These sinks free up optic space below, but don't contribute the counter space and cabinet space that a former sink provides. an additional one selection is a pedestal sink. These sinks have a more superior produce and are free standing. Wall-mounted sinks save space but do not have counter space. Both types of sinks do not contribute warehouse space underneath. Most home-improvement market stock smaller sinks, or you can convention order one from a cabinet shop for a price.

A straightforward way to conserve space is to do away with a tub and just use a shower. Smaller tubs, however, are available, although most cannot cope whirlpool faucets. Any tub less than five feet long will probably spill the water sprayed by the whirlpool faucets.

Pick a toilet that can sit close to the wall to conserve space, and the size of the seat and tank produce determine just how much space the toilet will use. Also pay attention to the size of the home's former toilet. Older homes have toilets with 10 to 14 inches in the middle of the wall and the toilet drain, but newer homes typically have 12 inches. The wrong toilet won't fit. Buying a toilet with a low tank takes up less optic space and compact toilets leave more room, but as with any small bathroom remodeling project, use these suggestions to find a toilet that is both beloved and fits in the room.

Finally, limit what you bring into the bathroom. To save space in a cramped bathroom, for example, it may be best to have a dressing area in a bedroom. Limit the whole of accessories -- clutter can for real make a small bathroom look smaller.

Planning a small remodeling may take extra planning, but the resulting clean, beautiful, an uncluttered bathroom will be an inviting space.

How to Properly Regrout and Recaulk Your Shower Or Bath

How to Properly Regrout and Recaulk Your Shower Or Bath

Does your shower have dirty, moldy and dingy looking grout and caulk? There are many ways to regrout and recaulk a shower or bath but there is categorically only one way to do the job properly so your shower will stay waterproof, stainproof and look beautiful for years to come.

First step is to completely clean your tiles: Many dirty showers have soap scum accumulation which must be completely cleaned before any regrouting course can begin. It is prominent to use a professional soap scum remover product as well as a professional scrub pad to scrub away the dirt and soap scum from your shower walls and floor. Do not use any type of grinder scrub pad as they may scratch your tiles. It can be helpful to use a professional steam cleaning machine in conjunction with the soap scum removers and scrub pads. A professional truckmounted steam cleaning machine is beneficial to accelerate the cleaning process but professional soap scum removers and scrub pads as well as a fair estimate of elbow grease can be very productive in removing all of the soap scum from your shower walls and floor.

Bathroom Shower

Second step is to remove the dirty, moldy grout and caulk: It is prominent to first remove all the old caulk from inside and colse to your shower. The best way to remove old caulk is to use a razor blade tool and scrape it all out from inside and colse to your shower. After the old caulk has been removed it is now time to remove the grout from your shower. There are many tools like a Dremel or Rotozip tool to do this but the hands down best tool is a Fein Multimaster or Supercut vibrating tool with a brilliant bit. It is prominent to use the Fein tool on every grout line and clean every line with a stiff brush to make sure the new grout will have a firm base to cleave to.

Third step is to dry out your walls: In most cases some water and mold has gotten into your wall. It is therefore necessary to completely and completely dry your shower walls before any regrouting course can take place. Do not attempt to regrout over top of a wet shower wall substrate. The water in your walls can continue to harbor dangerous mold and mildew. Also your grout will not set properly due to the moisture in your walls and will come to be discolored and flake away after a very short duration of time. The best way to dry out your shower walls is with a professional dehumidifier for at least 3-7 days. This way you can be positive your shower walls will come to be dry and any mold and mildew gift in your walls is killed before you begin regrouting.

Fourth step is to apply the grout to your shower: It is best to use a profession grout powder mixed with latex additive Do not use any premixed or ready to use products as these are vastly inferior and technically not cement products at all. It is best to go to a professional tile store and purchase your grouting supplies from an experienced salesman. Try to stay away from the big box home correction market as they have many inferior products and their sales people commonly do not specialize in tile setting products.

Fifth step is to recaulk your shower: The caulk is the weakest link between water damaging your walls and floors so it is prominent to apply it correctly You should caulk between all tile wall planes and between and fixtures and the tiles. This will insure that water does not get between your tiles and into your walls and floor. It is best to use only 100% silicon caulks. 100% silicon caulk will last the longest and will not allow mold and mildew to grow like the cheaper water based latex or siliconized caulks.

Sixth step is sealing: It is prominent to seal your grout with a professional impregnating sealer. A high capability sealer will safe your grout from stains and also forestall mold and mildew from forming. Here again it is recommended that your purchase a professional sealer from a tile store and stay away from the cheaper sealers being sold at the big box stores.

Seventh step is to wait 72 hours: Wait 72 hours for your grout and caulk to fully cure and then go and enjoy your new looking shower. A regrouting course can be done by many homeowners with the allowable tools and some handyman skills. It can also be very suitable and save a lot of headaches to have a professional tile and grout cleaning and recovery company to expertly regrout and recaulk your shower or bath.

How to Hire a professional Regrouting Contractor: Make sure that your ask many questions of your potential regrouting undertaker of a package deal and do not decree for a cheap incomplete one day regrouting and recaulking procedure. One day regrouting procedures will look sloppy and the grout and caulk will fail in a short duration of time. One day regrouting procedures also fail to address any potential water damage in your walls. Also do not accept any company that just skim coats new grout over the old grout. A skim coat course will not last and it will only be a short duration of time before your skim coated grout starts to chip and flake away. Additionally the new grout will trap water between the two layers of grout causing your shower waterproofing ideas to fail. Check with your state labor and industries as well as the good company Bureau (Bbb) to make sure your potential undertaker of a package deal is fully license and insured and does not have any unresolved good company Bureau Complaints that may be an indication of shoddy workmanship. Mobsters - James Hines - The extreme Political Fixer

Mobsters - James Hines - The extreme Political Fixer

He started off as a straightforward Harlem blacksmith, but when he dug his fat fingers deep into Tammany Hall, James Hines became the biggest political fixer in the history of New York City.

Hines was born on December 18, 1876, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. His father operated a blacksmith shop on 121st road and Eight Avenue, and when his father became ill, Hines took over his father's company at the age of 17.

Shower Caddy

Through his father's connections in politics in the 11th Assembly District on the Upper West Side, Hines became close to Big Tim Sullivan, a politician so crooked, he legitimately took part of the profits from the rackets perpetrated by road gangs, who were plundering the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Sullivan was the main cog in the political machine called Tammany Hall and he played his constituents like a fiddle, getting sure citizen to vote on selection Day some times, by enduringly changing their appearances. Hines learned the ropes from the master, and in 1907 Hines ran for the position called Alderman. With the help of Sullivan's manipulation of the selection process (Sullivan had men, who wouldn't vote his way at the polls, beaten up badly by his road gangs, most preponderant the Whyos), Hines won the selection going away.

In 1910, Hines took the bold move of running for District Leader against the incumbent. After both sides used roughhouse tactics against the other, Hines was able to emerge victorious. With his new-found power as District Leader, Hines formed the Monongahela Democratic Club, which was his base of operations for many years to come. At the Monongahela, Hines played the good old boy; providing the poor in the neighborhood with Thanksgiving turkeys, donating clothes to the needy, and finding jobs for whomever needed jobs. Of course, that meant Hines could count on those people's votes on selection Day, for whomever candidate Hines deemed should be the winner, no matter what District that candidate was running in.

Every year Hines sponsored an each year "June Walk and Picnic" in Central Park, which drew as many 25,000 people, mostly children. On one such occasion (The 22nd each year Walk), Hines, after carrying a kid on piggyback, then depositing him by a table brimming with a huge spread of the finest food, Hines wiped the sweat from his brow and said, "Kids who came to the first of these things are voters now. They're not all voting my district, but they're voting somewhere. In politics, the thing to do is build yourself an army."

To supplement his income, and with no feel at all, Hines, along with his brother Philip, started a trucking company, and then a building company. Roughly immediately, the Hines brothers were able to garner the best and the biggest city trucking contracts and state building projects, which they subsequently subcontracted out to citizen who legitimately knew how to do those jobs.

Even though Hines was the biggest player of his time in Democratic politics, he had very puny time to come in running for elective office. Hines was an unskilled collective speaker, and was more adept at back room dealings, where a mere nod of his head, would signify which person was getting elected, or appointed to a political job. As compassionate he could be with his friends, if person crossed Hines, as far Hines was concerned, that person may as well have been dead.

During Prohibition, Owney "The Killer" Madden and "Big Bill" Dwyer were running the biggest bootlegging doing in the whole United States of America. However, both bootleggers knew their company could never thrive if they didn't have the police in their back pockets. And the man who controlled the all police promotions at the time was none other than Jim Hines. Dwyer and Madden paid Hines, and they paid him well, to take care of the police, judges, prosecutors, and bail bondsmen. By taking care of Hines properly, Madden and Dwyer knew if any of their men did have the misfortune of being arrested by a cop, who whether wasn't getting paid, or was just being plain disobedient, Hines would arrange for that person's immediate release.

Tammany big shot George Washington Plunkitt, a man who schooled Hines when Hines first started out in politics, said that is was a good thing for a crooked politician like Hines to be linked with known gangsters. The idea being, if anything was stupid sufficient to whether description Hines to the authorities, or refuse to play ball with him, they'd think twice, knowing person like Owney "The Killer" Madden was waiting in the wings to definite them if they did.

Plunkitt once explained exactly what a District Leader like Hines was staggering to do. He said, "As a rule a District Leader has no company or work other than politics. He plays politics every day and night of the year, and his headquarters bears the inscription 'Never Closed.'"

Madden and Dwyer met often with Hines at his Monongahela Democratic Club on the Upper West Side to discuss business. Some of this company concerned which politician, finding to advance their career, were the best for the company of the "Combine," as Madden and Dwyer's doing was called. In 1925, it was decided by all that ex-Tin Pan Alley songwriter Jimmy Walker would be the perfect pick for Mayor of New York City. With Hines' backing, and Madden controlling the polling places, Walker won by a landslide.

In 1929, Walker was reelected again, this time defeating reformer and time to come mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. But Walker was as crooked as they came, and spent very puny time legitimately being Mayor of New York City. Once, after he was questioned by a political opponent after he gave himself a raise from ,000 to ,000 a year, Walker quipped, "Hell, that's cheap. Fantasize what I would be worth if I worked full time."

But all good thing must come to an end. In 1932, after Walker was grilled by the Seabury Committee, which was finding into police and political corruptions, New York Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt, working hand-in-hand with Hines, pressured Walker to retire. Walker took the cue, and quit his office immediately. Walker took the first boat ready and sailed, with his girlfriend Betty Compton, to the more friendly confines of France. Walker remained in France for four years before he deemed it safe to return to New York City.

The Presidential selection of 1932 was an even bigger coup for Hines. In 1928, New York Governor Al Smith, a man who had tried to take control of Tammany Hall from Hines, ran unsuccessfully for the President of the United States against Republican Herbert Hoover. Under Hoover, the stock store crashed in 1929, and by 1932, America was in the throes of The Great Depression. Smith wanted to run for President again, but he was opposed by Roosevelt, who had taken Smith's place as Governor in 1928.

Hines had a long memory with regard to Smith, and he threw all his weight behind Roosevelt for the Democratic nomination for President. Roosevelt won the Democratic Nomination against Smith quite easily, and also the Presidential selection against Herbert Hoover. With his man Roosevelt snugly in the White House, Roosevelt rewarded Hines for his defiant assistance by giving Hines the job of awarding all federal patronage in Manhattan, to whomever Hines deemed fit for the jobs.

By 1933, Hines was riding high in New York City politcs. Money was flowing in in bushels from the mobsters, and Dwyer was known as a "King Maker" -- a man who could sway any selection he chose to, throughout New York State, and even if need be, throughout America.

The start of Hines' downfall was when Hines was introduced by his fellow gangsters to the only gangster in New York City that Hines wasn't doing favors for: Dutch Schultz (real name Arthur Flegenheimer). The meeting was supposed to be so secretive, it started with Hines waiting surreptitiously under the elevated trains, on a road corner on Sixth Avenue, in Greenwich Village, far away from Hines' domain on the Upper West Side. Minutes later, Schultz picked up Hines in a bulletproof Cadillac. In the car was Schultz's join together George Weinberg, and Schultz's lawyer, and master fixer -- Dixie Davis.

In 1938, when Hines was a defendant in the first of his two trails for political corruption, George Weinberg testified in court for the prosecution. Weinberg spoke in information about the pivotal conversation which took place in the Cadillac surrounded by himself, Hines, and Schultz, on that fateful day in 1933.

Weinberg said, "I explained to Hines, that in order to be able to run our company and bring it up the right way, we would have to safe the controllers that are working for us. We would have to safe them from going to jail, and if we got any big arrests that would hurt our business, we would want them dismissed in Magistrates' Court, so that they wouldn't have to go downtown (that meant the sometimes tougher three-judge Court of special Sessions). I explained to him that we did not mind the small arrests, but if we got any large arrests we would want them dismissed in Magistrates' Court, to show the citizen in Harlem that are working for us that we had the right kind of protection up there, and that we would want to safe them from going to jail."

In the bulletproof Caddy, Hines, and Schultz also came to an trade that Schultz would give Hines, as a quantum of his good will, one thousand dollars on the spot. Also, Schultz told Hines that Dixie Davis would be the go-between to funnel Hines someone else 0 per week, to keep Schultz' discrete enterprises free from law enforcement intervention.

In 1937, when Davis himself was tried for procedure rackets involvement, he testified in court, "I cultivated Jimmy Hines right from the beginning. I soon learned that to run an organized mob you've got to have a politician. You have heard about the suspected link between organized crime and politics. Well, I became the missing link."

Davis also testified that Schultz's procedure banks kicked in the 0 a week for Hines, but that Davis, "Tossed in someone else 0 himself to Hines without even telling Schultz." Davis said that he put up the extra money, so that the big spender (Hines) had the cash he needed for the "Friday night fights and anything else Hines needed to do when Mr. Hines did the requisite entertaining--judges, officeholders, big businessmen -- that kept his political power mower oiled."

Because of his cooperation, Davis was sentenced to a mere one year in prison, plus he was disbarred.

Hines also controlled the appointments of the discrete New York Judges, and when he did appoint a judge, he made it clear that judge now worked for him, and was compelled to do anything Hines said needed to be done. On one occasion, Weinberg and his boys were caught with the goods, when an enterprising detective busted an apartment they used for business, which contained over ,000 worth of procedure racket receipts. Weinberg told the arresting detective that he was production a very big mistake, and if he insisted on arresting Weinberg and his men, the detective would soon be busted back to a plain uniformed cop, walking a beat somewhere in Harlem.

After he was released on bail, Weinberg immediately ran to Hines. After hearing Weinberg's story, Hines told Weinberg he would take care of the situation.

That same night, Hines took Weinberg to a steak evening meal at the Andrew B. Keating Democratic Club where, they met a Hines appointee, the very honorable (not) Judge Hulon Capshaw. Hines told the judge, "I have a procedure case, a very foremost one, advent up before you that I'd like you to take care of for me. "

The Judge replied, "I haven't failed you yet. I'll take care of it."

And that the judge did, when he ruled that the procedure slips found in the apartment could in no way be linked to the men who were in that same apartment. The case was dismissed and the detective who did the aborted bust was soon busted himself, back to patrolman, by Police Commission James Bolan, also a Hines appointee.

The wheels started spinning off Hines' gravy train when special Prosecutor Thomas E. Dewey began investigating Dutch Schultz's many illegal company activities. The Dutchman didn't like the heat too much, so he told the other men on the National Crime Commission, of which he was a member with gangsters like Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegel, and Frank Costello, that he wanted Dewey hit, and hit right away.

When the Commission voted down his request, Schultz said, "I still say Dewey should be hit, and I'm going to do it myself."

The Commission didn't like hearing that too much, so on October 23, 1935, to save Dewey's life, Schultz was shot in the bathroom of the Palace Chophouse, at 12 East Park Street, in Newark, New Jersey. Schultz lingering for a few hours at the hospital, in a delirious state, before he ultimately passed away.

With Schultz now eliminated, Dewey now turned his concentration to Hines. Dewey claimed that Hines was "a co-conspirator and requisite functionary of the Schultz organization."

Things started finding remarkable bad for Hines, when George Weinberg suddenly turned canary and testified against Hines at Hines' first trial in 1938. With Weinberg talking non-stop on the observe stand about Hines' involvement in Schultz's rackets, Hines seemed doomed to be convicted. However, on September 12, 1938, four days into the trial, a mistrial was declared on a technicality. By New York general Sessions Court Justice Pecora.

As Hines was waiting to be re-tried by Dewey, George Weinberg suddenly became overcome with grief for turning rat against Hines. Down and depressed, Weinberg committed suicide by firing a singular bullet into his own brain.

With Weinberg out of the picture, it looked like Hines was in the clear. However, Hines took a roundhouse right to the jaw, when the new judge ruled in Hines' second trail (which took place in 1939), that Weinberg's testimony from the first trial could be admitted into evidence.

With corroborating testimony from men like Police Commissioner James Bolan, and crooked Tammany Hall politician John Curry, Hines was found guilty on all thirteen counts of the indictment; one of which was accepting more than 0,00 in bribes from Dutch Schultz.

As Hines left the court he was asked by a snotty reporter if Hines felt "tired." Hines snapped back, "How would you feel if you were just kicked in the belly?"

Hines was sentenced to 4-8 years on his convictions, but he was released on parole on September 12, 1944, after serving a puny more than five years of his term.

Alone with his wife in their home on the beach in Long Island, Hines spent the rest of his years in relative obscurity. On March 26, 1957, James Hines died of natural causes at the age of 80.
